2003- Whirlpool Mexico
OptiLogix On Demand

  The Company

Whirlpool Corporation is the world's leading manufacturer and marketer of major home appliances, with annual sales of more than $19 billion, more than 73,000 employees, and more than 72 manufacturing and technology research centers around the world. The company markets Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Bauknecht and other major brand names to consumers in nearly every country around the world.

  Goals and Issues

Whirlpool Mexico wanted to review its current network configurations with two basic objectives: In the short term, optimize current flows (no capital expenditures) and subsequently, identify longer-term optimal configuration strategies.

  Implementation and Results

Whirlpool chose TechnoLogix´s Opti-Net TM On Demand for this project. The organization was interested in an outsourced solution that could be customized for this project and serve as the foundation for any future "What If"? type analysis.

The project took 3 months to complete, and its scope included:
" Developing a "Whirlpool Model" version of our supply chain network optimization
platform by customizing data elements and mathematical model
" Extensive efforts manipulating and validating input data stream"
" Supporting Whirlpool´sstaff in the identification and analysis of alternate
configuration options

The network configuration option recommended is projected to reduce overall costs (fixed plus variable) by approximately 10%.

  Our Tools

This project was conducted utilizing Opt-iNet TM On Demand. This approach offers clients the benefit of our optimization know-how and tools, without the need to invest resources and time in the implementation of a tool that would not be run frequently enough to justify it or for which those resources and time do not exist.
